IT Industry in India is reeling under pressure and some of the bad name in the Industry has been given by non-professional staff who either lie to management, do acts that are shameful, break contract terms and get involved in illegal acts.
Vijay Thummar is one such case that I ran into. Here is a run down of non-professionalism with most companies won't tolerate.
1) Started going steady in relationship with intern working in Gloscon Mausam Soni. Lunch time 2 hours almost everyday!!!! Some of the team members then even raised concerns on Vijay's lunch timings. When Mausam was terminated, Vijay took her responsibility and with support from team members we got her back. BIG MISTAKE I DID.
2) Despite not giving full 8 hours time for company work(always leaving on time), Vijay was also found sleeping in office in multiple instances.

3) Vijay's contract terms were 1 month notice or 1 months pay. He disappeared from company without giving full months notice or notice pay. Owes company Rs. 22,500 plus interest with company informed. Company did not give him any relieving letter or experience letter and have written to various bodies notifying the same.
4) Vijay informed on record that he was to do Java Work. He is in violation of 50 kms non-compete agreement with our company working in Drupal.

In my earlier article too I have written about Cignex's shoddy practices. We have had many others join and leave and move on in their careers but this case stands out.
Think it again before you consider interviewing guys like this. Always to reference check with previous employers and make sure you speak with top management of previous companies. And even more - if a guy says "He is from a poor family, don't get emotional in helping him". A lesson I learnt so many times but my emotional side always is of helpful nature. I think its time to get rational now.
