Warning : Kuldip Zala does a disappearing act with code/passwords

Cases of lies, employees disappearing without notice, stealing passwords, codebase is so common in India that our legal system needs to crack down on such cases.

If not, US/Australia/Canada immigration should welcome employers to submit the matter with records of such employees to bar them from allowing them entry in their countries.

Kuldip Zala was one such rouge in the company.  When it comes to company politics, he is the one who will spread rumors and create a very negative environment.  I was informed about this act of Kuldip from multiple sources and had a long conversation on this where Kuldip confessed that he was creating negative sentiments.  I warned him that if he has to work in company, he should uphelp professionalism at highest level. He was good in programming but what he did next was worst.

He disappeared and did not show up in office. We tried all possible means to reach him and after 2 days of not able to find contacts, I informed the same to Police station that Kuldip Zala has been missing without informing and not turned up for work.  He also carried critical passwords and access to proprietary material.  Kuldip Zala 2 days later informed another employee that he will not  show up for work and not finish the exit formalities. He also owes one month salary to the company.

He was immediately terminated and no releliving letter or experience letter was given to him from the company for his tenure between 2007 - 2009. We are still evaluating the damage because of his possession of company's proprietary data and passwords.

Company is exploring options against Kuldip Zala for Breach of Trust, Cyber Fraud, Collection of dues, Violation of Non Compete terms, Professional Misconduct and Intellectual Property stealing.

We do have tight contracts. We do pay every employee all dues as per the offer terms but we also crack down when someone does non professional act including reporting the matters to various immigraton depts and industry associations.  Hiring such persons is a risk for  any company and until and unless companies report such behaviour, this nuisance will continue.  All the more reason for companies to do background check on employee.
